About Us

The Farmers Health Promotion Collaborative (FHPC) brings together farmers, rural businesses, producer associations, community organisations, and health professionals to build a supportive framework for the future of rural Australia’s health and wellbeing.

Our History

Over the last 10 years, early advocates for the Farmers Health Promotion Collaborative have been researching what affects rural health, health habits, and health mindsets. They have been working hard to develop ways to positively improve rural health standards through quality of life practices that can be scaled to benefit wider communities.

In 2017, these early advocates formed a charitable vehicle to launch their vision of building a network by bringing together advocates, lobbyists, and collaborators alike. And thus, the Farmers Health Promotion Collaborative was born!

Our Identity

Values

Understanding your health and behaviours is the critical first step to taking control of your wellbeing and resilience. That's why we value the learning and enrichment that happens when each of us set out to not only improve our own health, but role model healthy behaviours to others.

We believe it is important to: Develop the skills needed to successfully adapt to challenges. Learn self-management techniques proven to help manage things like stress. Understand things about ourselves like decision-making fatigue, boundary setting, and our 'portfolio' of coping skills.

Mission

Our health, wellbeing, and resilience is not tested when things are going well, but rather when we are faced with challenges and hardship. Through research, collaboration, and demonstration we are striving to not only understand what drives and underpins health, wellbeing, and attitudes in rural Australia, but endeavour to action what we learn to improve these qualities.

We work hard with our network of collaborators to deploy health and wellbeing programs into rural communities. These programs lay the foundation for the beginning of our participants' health and wellbeing journey where they learn what their mind and body needs, and how to fulfil these needs in everyday life.

Vision

We are working towards a healthy, happy, and supportive rural Australia that stands together against preventable illness; both physical and mental. Through our health and wellbeing programs, we hope to inspire people to take action and care for their own health and wellbeing, rather than neglect and act when something goes wrong.

By demonstrating the benefits of proactive health to individuals and communities we hope to influence mindset and attitudes towards taking care of one's self. With enough participants, we believe that these people will become shining examples among community members, both young and old, of what it means to value health and wellbeing.
